Weeks 1–2
Pain
Turn the volume down.
Hands-on work and a dose you can genuinely handle settle the most reactive areas, without pushing you into a flare.
What We Treat
You have been told the tests look fine, so there is nothing to fix. There is, and finding it starts with a cause-first evaluation that begins with someone asking how this actually started.

Two or more? You are not imagining it. Keep reading.
Why It Happens
Pain that lasts past three months usually has more than one thing feeding it. The original injury can settle while the tissue around it stays stiff, weak and guarded. Months of moving carefully leave specific muscles deconditioned, so an ordinary day costs more than it should. The nervous system also gets better at producing the pain signal, which is a physical change in how the alarm is tuned, not a sign that the pain is in your head. And sleep, load and flare cycles feed each other until the pattern looks random from the inside.
You have carried this while working, parenting and being told your tests look fine. That is not a small thing, and none of it is imagined. A cause-first evaluation starts where the other appointments skipped ahead: how this began, what makes it worse, what you have already tried. Then we test movement, strength and tolerance, and find the drivers we can change. A printed stretching sheet has no way of knowing which of yours is which. Rest alone tends to shrink your tolerance further, which just brings the next flare closer.
The Honest Truth
Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.
How We Fix It
Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what Pain, Prime, Perform and Prevent look like for chronic pain.
Weeks 1–2
Pain
Hands-on work and a dose you can genuinely handle settle the most reactive areas, without pushing you into a flare.
Weeks 2–6
Prime
We restore range in the stiff, guarded areas and grow your tolerance in steps small enough to hold onto.
Weeks 6–10
Perform
Progressive strength work gives back what months of careful moving took away, so ordinary days stop costing so much.
Weeks 10+
Prevent
You leave knowing your triggers, your dose and exactly what to do on a bad week: that’s the endpoint, not just another appointment.
… The entire staff was great, very professional and polite and attentive to my needs. The therapists were very knowledgeable and helpful to my specific needs, and were very instrumental to my recovery and returning to work. I’m very grateful for them and I’m going to miss seeing them.

Questions, Answered
No. Normal scans do not mean nothing is wrong; they mean the answer is not the kind imaging shows, and you do not need a physician referral to start physical therapy in California. A cause-first evaluation looks at movement, strength, tolerance and what sets your flares off, and that is where the drivers of long-standing pain usually turn up. If something in your exam belongs with a physician, we will tell you and help you get there.
That worry is earned, and we plan around it rather than talk you out of it. We start at a dose you can already handle, not at what you should be able to do, and build from there. Hurt is not the same as harm, and one flare does not erase the progress underneath it. A licensed physical therapist adjusts the load with you at every visit, so nothing gets pushed without your say.
Longer than a fresh injury, and we would rather be straight with you than sell you a quick fix. Pain that has been around for months or years usually needs all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, and progress gets measured in what you can do rather than how one day felt. You still get a plan with an endpoint: clear phases, goals written in your words, and a home program that keeps working after your last visit.
