What We Treat

Shoulder pain treatment in Reseda.

The reach to the top shelf that stops halfway, and the two hours of ache afterward. It is fixable, and it starts with a cause-first evaluation, because a cuff, a pinch and a stiffening capsule all hurt in the same place for different reasons.

Sound Familiar?

Does this sound like you?

  • Reaching into the back seat and stopping halfway, then twisting your body instead
  • Sleeping on the other side, or in a chair, because that shoulder won’t let you lie on it
  • Getting a jacket on bad arm first, every time, without thinking about it
  • One exact point in the arc where it catches, and you know precisely where it is
  • Somebody reaching for the heavy box before you do, because they have watched you try
  • Losing the last of your overhead reach, and washing your hair one-handed

Why It Happens

Same sore spot. Four different problems.

Shoulders are crowded. Several different things go wrong in there and all of them ache in roughly the same place. The rotator cuff, the four small muscles that keep the ball centred, gets overloaded and stops tolerating overhead work. The space above it narrows and pinches on the way up, which is what impingement means. The shoulder blade stops travelling with the arm, so the joint runs out of room early. And the capsule wrapped around the joint can thicken and shrink, which is the frozen shoulder pattern, and that one is on a clock.

You have spent years lifting, carrying and holding things up for other people. That is why it is your shoulder and not your knee, and it is not a character flaw. A cause-first evaluation separates those four, and it has to, because the plan for a tight capsule is close to the opposite of the plan for an irritated cuff. Rest quiets a cuff for a week and it comes back louder. Rest lets a capsule tighten further. A generic band routine can grind the exact spot that is already pinching. Test it, then load it.

The Honest Truth

Waiting doesn’t give a shoulder time to heal. It gives it time to stiffen.

If you keep waiting

  • Your neck and upper back take over the reaching, and start complaining too
  • The arc you can actually use keeps shrinking, and a tight capsule can lock in
  • You stop reaching overhead at all, and the cuff gets weaker from not being asked

If you start this week

  • You find out which structure it is, tested rather than guessed, at visit one
  • Hands-on work and the right first positions start giving you your nights back
  • You get a plan with an endpoint, and a straight answer on what you can lift now

Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.

How We Fix It

The same four phases. Built for shoulders.

Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what Pain, Prime, Perform and Prevent look like for shoulder pain.

Weeks 1–2

Pain

Get your nights back.

Hands-on work and positions that unload the cuff, so you can lie down on that side again instead of sleeping upright.

Weeks 2–6

Prime

Open the arc back up.

Joint and capsule mobility plus shoulder blade control, so the arm has room to travel before we load anything.

Weeks 6–10

Perform

Load the cuff until it holds.

Progressive rotator cuff and shoulder blade strengthening, taken all the way overhead, until the joint holds under real weight.

Weeks 10+

Prevent

Send it back to work.

We test the lifts, reaches and carries you actually do, whether that’s a toolbox or a serve, and when they pass you’re finished.

With over 100 physical therapy sessions across various centers since 2009… They work with you for a full hour, providing personalized attention and care. The orthopedic procedures are spot-on, and I firmly believe that if I had started with them initially, I might have avoided surgeries for my rotator cuff tear and carpal tunnel.

Questions, Answered

What people ask before booking for shoulder pain.

Not to get started. In California you can see a licensed physical therapist without a physician referral. Shoulder MRIs also find cuff wear in people who have no pain at all, so a scan does not automatically explain your shoulder. A hands-on evaluation tests the cuff, the joint and the shoulder blade and tells us what is actually failing. If your shoulder needs imaging or a surgical opinion, we say so and help you get there.

Yes, just not the way you were doing it. A shoulder that stops moving stiffens quickly, and the capsule can tighten to the point where getting the motion back becomes the whole project. We find the range and the load your shoulder tolerates today, work there one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist, then add height and weight as it earns them. Guarding it completely is what turns a sore shoulder into a frozen one.

That depends on which structure it is, and we are honest about it: an irritated cuff and a thickened capsule move on very different clocks. What you get either way is a plan with an endpoint, through Pain, Prime, Perform and Prevent, with a clear marker to hit in each phase. We give you the number after we have tested the shoulder, not before.
