Weeks 1–2
Pain
Take the heat out of it.
Hands-on techniques settle the irritated tendon and bursa on the outside of your hip, starting your first visit.
What We Treat
The catch in your hip crease every time you swing a leg out of the car. It does not have to be permanent, and it starts with a cause-first evaluation instead of another guess.

Why It Happens
Your hip doesn’t hurt at random. It is usually a stack of things. The tendons and the little cushioning sacs on the outside of the joint get irritated and stay that way. The muscles at the front shorten from hours of sitting, so the joint never gets its full range. The glutes that should be carrying your weight quietly stop pulling their share, and the joint absorbs what they gave up. And the rim of cartilage deep in the socket can pinch every time you fold forward.
You are the one everyone else leans on, which is exactly why nobody has looked at your hip yet. A cause-first evaluation is where that changes. We load the joint, the tendons and the muscles around them until the one that reproduces your pain shows itself. That is why rest and a printed stretch sheet keep coming up short: they aim at the ache, not the driver. Stretch a tendon that is already angry and it gets angrier.
The Honest Truth
Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.
How We Fix It
Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what Pain, Prime, Perform and Prevent look like for hip pain.
Weeks 1–2
Pain
Hands-on techniques settle the irritated tendon and bursa on the outside of your hip, starting your first visit.
Weeks 2–6
Prime
Targeted mobility work restores the rotation and extension your hip has been guarding, so your stride stops getting cut short.
Weeks 6–10
Perform
Progressive glute and deep hip strengthening puts the load back where it belongs, so the joint stops absorbing it alone.
Weeks 10+
Prevent
Stairs, long walks and getting up off the floor get tested under real load before you’re cleared: that’s the endpoint, not just another appointment.
… The facility is clean and spacious. But what makes this facility great is the staff. I live in a different county and I asked to be sent here because they are personable, professional, and truly care about their patients.

Questions, Answered
In California you do not need a physician referral to start physical therapy, so you can come straight to us. Most hip pain gets sorted out with a hands-on exam: we load the joint, the tendons and the muscles around it to see which one reproduces your pain. Imaging often shows changes in hips that feel completely fine, so a scan on its own rarely explains the ache. If imaging turns out to be genuinely necessary, we will tell you and help you get it.
Almost never, and stillness is usually the bigger problem. A hip that stops moving gets stiffer, and the muscles that support it get weaker, which sets up the next flare-up. Hurt is not the same as harm. A licensed physical therapist works out how much your hip can handle right now, then adds to it as you improve, so nothing gets pushed before it is ready.
How many visits you need depends on what we find at the evaluation, and we tell you the estimate then. A full hip plan runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, usually across 8–10 weeks, depending on how long the hip has been bothering you. You get a plan with an endpoint: you will always know which phase you are in and what is left, instead of an open tab of appointments.
