We check what is guarding, and where.
The tightness that returns every week does not have to. Soft tissue work built into your recovery, so you leave loose and stay that way longer.
What It Is
Massage therapy here is broad soft tissue work: sustained pressure, long strokes, kneading across whole muscle groups. It calms tissue that has been braced for weeks. Patients often describe it as the icing on the cake at the end of a session.
It is not the same thing as manual therapy. Manual therapy is assessment driven: a licensed physical therapist treats one specific restriction found in your evaluation. Massage is broader. It works whole regions so you recover faster and stay loose between visits.
You are the one everyone else leans on, so the tightness gets ignored until it changes how you move. Guarded muscle quietly hands the work to something else. Then the original problem takes longer to settle than it ever needed to.
Broad soft tissue work, always optional
What It Helps
When a whole region stays tight no matter what you do, this is the work that reaches it.

Questions, Answered
It shouldn’t. Pressure is matched to what your tissue tolerates that day, and you say when it is too much. Some spots feel tender while they let go, then feel looser afterward. Tell us in the moment and we adjust.
The pressure may feel familiar. The purpose is not. This is recovery work aimed at the tissue involved in your problem, chosen by a licensed physical therapist as part of your plan. It is not an hour booked for relaxation alone.
That depends on your plan, and coverage for soft tissue work varies. We check your exact benefits before your first session, so nothing on your bill is a surprise. Questions before then? Call us at (818) 341-3791.
