We decide whether it fits at all.
This is therapeutic ultrasound, not the scan you are picturing. Sound waves warm tissue deeper than hands reach, used alongside the rest of your plan.
What It Is
First, the distinction, because nearly everyone arrives with the wrong picture. This is therapeutic ultrasound, not diagnostic imaging. Nothing is being photographed and there is no screen to read. A small head glides over the skin with gel and sends sound waves into the tissue below.
Those waves create gentle deep warmth and movement in tissue your hands cannot reach directly. It can help an area settle before hands-on work, and it can leave a stiff region more willing to move.
Now the honest part. Ultrasound is an adjunct, not the reason to come in. It supports hands-on treatment and exercise where it fits, and a licensed physical therapist will skip it where it does not. Anyone selling this as the fix is selling you something.
An adjunct, never the whole plan
What It Helps
It shows up most with deeper, stiffer areas that hands cannot get to directly.
What A Session Looks Like
1
We decide whether it fits at all.
2
Gel, then the head moves over the area.
3
Then the hands-on work and the exercise.
Why It Works
Deep warmth where hands cannot reach.
A stiff area loosens before hands-on work.
Nothing about it to feel nervous over.
Used only where it genuinely fits.
Pairs Well With
Questions, Answered
No. Most people feel mild warmth, or barely anything, while the head glides over the skin with gel. There is nothing sharp and nothing to brace for. If the warmth ever feels like more than comfortable, tell us and we change the setting.
No. Diagnostic ultrasound takes a picture of what is under the skin. Therapeutic ultrasound uses sound waves to warm and move tissue, and it produces no image at all. Same physics, completely different purpose. Nobody will be reading a screen.
That depends on your plan, and coverage for individual treatments varies. We check your exact benefits before your first session, so nothing on your bill is a surprise. Questions before then? Call us at (818) 341-3791.
